We also got a dog hat! I lost the picture I had of it on its own. My dogs’ ears are a bit too big for it (plus they hated it and tried to get it off), but how adorable is this! I love that Surprise My Pet has been sending seasonal accessory/clothing items. I would never buy this stuff for my dogs, but it is so cute. I actually died laughing when I put this on both of them.

I liked all of the items in this month’s box! As always, I’m impressed. If you have a dog, you should definitely consider this box!

Griggles – Stuffed Turkey Toy – $14.99

This toy is pretty big and adorable. It is supposed to have a squeaker in it, but I couldn’t find it. I’m sure my dogs will be able to scope it out!

IMAG2772_1

Mirage Pet Products– Holiday Bow Tie – $10.99

This is such a cute idea! I like that we didn’t get another bandana in the box this month.

Dog Days Treats– Turkey Breast Jerky (3 ounces) – $9.99

I was pleased to see 2 full bags of treats in this month’s box! We tried out the sweet potato fries and my dogs loved them. They are big, too. Perfect for large dogs.

The total value of this month’s box is $52.95! I was really pleased with the variety in this box and the theme. I love the bow tie and the toy is also quite adorable. Well done (again), Pet Gift Box!

Surprise my Pet box

Surprise my Pet box

This month had a Halloween theme! I’m also pretty sure this was the first month Surprise My Pet used paper and a sticker. Nice touches! Watch our unboxing video HERE!

the treats

the treats

The snacks this month were all great. I do wish there had been a larger bag of treats, but my dogs love all of this stuff, so it’s OK with me!

Pawsitively Gourmet– Halloween Cookie

My dogs LOVED this! The topping is yogurt (instead of icing). A cute addition to the Halloween box!

Puptato Chips – Sweet Potato Chips (2 ounces)

These are dried, but crunchy sweet potatoes. A great, healthy snack for dogs!

Etta Says – Crunchy Rabbit Chew

We have tons of these chews in my house and love getting them in boxes. My dogs drool over these.

the toys

the toys

The toys were both appropriately themed for Halloween! My dogs rip up stuffed toys pretty quickly, but Mandela usually carries them around for a few days before he decides to destroy them. And he loves them, so I don’t mind getting them in the box (sometimes he’s not as interested in the very durable toys designed for large dogs).

Vo-Toys– Tricksters Toys in Spider and Eye

Halloween t-shirt

Halloween t-shirt

We also get a Halloween t-shirt in the box! It is an XL, but if you have a dog over 60 ish pounds, it will be too small. I appreciate the thought and idea. Mandela can wear this, though it’s a big snug across his chest. I didn’t get a photo, but check out our unboxing video (link above) to see me put it on him. I let my neighbor’s Corgi wear it and it fit him perfectly. Cute idea for Halloween and not something I’ve seen in a dog box before.

There was no product card this month with prices or information, so I don’t have prices for you. But if you do the annual plan, this box would only be $19, which is a great deal for all the goodies we got. I appreciate the attention to the theme, which is something new Surprise My Pet is introducing. Overall, I thought this was a nice box!

The box is nicely packaged and everything, including the sticker, matches the box theme! This month’s theme was Hawaii Lu-arf. I think Pet Gift Box has THE BEST themes of any box I’ve received. Plus, every single item matches that theme (not just 1 or 2 like some boxes).

tiki god toy

tiki god toy

Aloha Dog Toys – Tiki God Rope Toy – $9.99

This is HUGE and adorable! I know my dogs will be able to rip this up quickly and will no doubt get stuffing all over the floor, but they’ll love playing with this. It’s got a squeaker inside, too.

coconut chips

Cocotherapy – Coconut Chips – $13.99

These come in a vacuum pack and you are supposed to sprinkle it on your dog’s food.

bone and wet food

bone and wet food

Ultra Chewy– Tropical Bone in Passion Fruit – $3.99

This is a pretty big and thick dental bone/chew. My dogs love this kind of stuff and I appreciate when dog boxes include longer lasting chews for large dogs.

Tiki Dog – Ahi Tuna wet food – $2.99

This is adorable and fits the theme perfectly. I’ll give this to my dogs as a special treat soon. It’s got brown rice, carrots, egg, garlic, and kale + tuna

bandana

bandana

Hawaiian Bandana– $5.99

Mandela looks adorable in this festive bandana! I think these kind of things are cute extras in boxes, though I wouldn’t pay more than $1 or $2 for it. It’ll last on him for a couple of days until we go swimming again.

September Pet Gift Box

September Pet Gift Box

The total value of this month’s box is $36.95. Again Pet Gift Box does a great job at keeping to a creative theme! I’m excited for what will come in the October box.

Pet Gift Box August 2015 + 50% Discount

My August Pet Gift Box FINALLY arrived! It took a lot of messaging back and forth with Pet Gift Box to get them to fix a shipping issue this month. They apologized and did fix it, but it took a lot of effort. I’m not impressed with their customer service, but I do love my box this month! I switched from Barkbox to Pet Gift Box because I wanted a change for my dogs. Pet Gift Box has awesome themes and great curation and this month was no exception! Both of these treats are so adorable! You just add water and put in the fridge/freezer for a cold, delicious treat for your dogs after a hot day. I love the unique items in this box!

The total value of this box is $29.95, which is awesome if you do the annual subscription at $17.99/month. Every item matches perfectly with the theme and I like the variety of toys, treats, and a lifestyle item. Even though I wasn’t happy with the customer service, I’m really happy with this box and can’t wait to see what the theme is for September!

Hyper Pet tennis balls

Hyper Pet tennis balls

Hyper Pet – Tennis Balls (4) – $3.89

My dogs love to fetch and swim, so these will definitely get used in my house!

Cloud Star dental bone (left) and treats (right)

Cloud Star dental bone (left) and treats (right)

Cloud Star – Dynamo Dog Dental Bone in Breath (for 50-80lb dogs) – $2.68

I was excited to see a dental chew in this box. I rarely buy these by themselves because they are expensive and quickly add up when you have 2 large dogs, so I’m happy to get one in the box.

Cloud Star – Buddy Biscuits in Roasted Chicken (6 ounces) – $4.49

My dogs love Cloud Star treats! These are soft and chewy and meaty. They are ginger bread man shaped, too, which is super adorable.

Multi Pet loofa

Multi Pet loofa

MultiPet  – Loofa dog toy (12 inches)- $5.99

This toy makes a unique squeaking sound and I know Mandela will love trying to rip this thing up.

Multi Pet Elephant Head

Multi Pet Elephant Head

MultiPet – Rope Head Elephant toy – $5.99

This toy is great for large dogs and tough chewers because the head is made out of rope. This will take my dogs much longer to rip up than if it were made out of plastic or rubber. And it’s so cute!

Healthy Dogma treats

Healthy Dogma treats

Healthy Dogma – Jamaican Bacon Barkers (6.2 ounces) – $5.95

We’ve gotten this brand of treats before and my dogs love them. I’ve never seen this flavor before either.

Etta Says chew (top) and Jones Natural Chew Co. hoof (bottom)

Etta Says chew (top) and Jones Natural Chew Co. hoof (bottom)

Etta Says – Crunchy Deer Chew (7 inches) – $.99

Jackson loves these so much. As he gets older, he doesn’t really want the larger and harder bully sticks, so these are perfect for him.

Jones Natural Chew Co. – Beef Hoof – $.86

We get cow hooves a lot in our house. They are so cheap (I have no idea why) but last SO LONG. My dogs carry these around for days. They are kind of stinky when they chew them, but they are a long lasting treat, which is perfect for large dogs.

July 2015 Surprise My Pet Box

July 2015 Surprise My Pet Box

The total value of this box is $30.84. That value is actually not as high as I expected it to be considering how many items we got! I also put the lowest prices I could find online (and there were huge ranges), so that value is on the lowest end. I love the curation of this box and how appropriate everything was for large dogs!

Barkbox July 2015 + free box with new subscription

Our July Barkbox seemed to take forever to get here! Barkbox is one of the longest standing dog subscription boxes. We have been subscribed for 2+ years. We have enjoyed our boxes, but sometimes find that the sizes of products and toys aren’t well suited for large dogs (this month especially). We have switched to Pet Gift Box and I just reviewed True Drool, which is a box that caters to dogs over 40 pounds. If you want to check out  Barkbox, you can get a free month added to your subscription by clicking here.

See the dogs and I unbox on my Youtube Channel HERE! If you watch our videos, please subscribe to my channel! Thank you.

This month’s theme was Circus.

Encore firehose toy

Encore firehose toy

Encore – Firehose Toy – $15

It might not look like it in the picture, but if you watch my unboxing video, you’ll see that this toy is only about the size of my hand. It’s not suited for a large dog at all. The same goes for the next toy. I’ve contacted Barkbox to see if they’ll make this right and I’ll update here when I hear back from them. I’m also supposed to be subscribed to the aggressive chewer box and my dogs could not only swallow both of the toys included here whole, but they could rip them up in 30 seconds. I was not impressed with the toys in the box this month. I would also never pay $15 for this little toy.

BarkMade Circus Elephant

BarkMade Circus Elephant

BarkMade – Circus Elephant Toy – $11

Again- this is adorable, but it’s the size of my hand. My dogs are 65 and 80 pounds. This is WAY too small for them. I really hope I got the wrong size box. If not, then Barkbox is really slacking on what size toys they put in their large dog boxes!

BarkMade Chicken Biscuits by Healthy Dogma

BarkMade Chicken Biscuits by Healthy Dogma

inside the container

inside the container

BarkMade – Chicken Biscuits by Healthy Dogma (5 ounce) – $8

These are a cute shaped heart biscuit and I’m sure my dogs will love them. I do like that they included a lot of meaty treats in this box.

Feel Good Treat Company beef treats

Feel Good Treat Company beef treats

Feel Good Treats – Trail Blazin Beef Bitz (4 ounces) – $8

We tried these and my dogs love them. They have beef liver as the main ingredient, which I like. These are made in Canada.

Butcher's Block trachea

Butcher’s Block trachea

Butcher’s Block -6″ Beef Trachea – $3

I was happy to see an appropriate size chew in the box. My dogs love trachea!

Barkbox July 2015

Barkbox July 2015

The total value of this month’s box is $45. I wouldn’t pay nearly that much for this stuff- I think those small toys are way overpriced. The treats and chew were a hit, but with 2 large dogs, you’ve got to send toys larger than my hand. That’s almost laughable. Because of this, I can’t really recommend Barkbox to owners with large, aggressive chewers, though they have sent large and durable toys in the past. Update: I contacted Barkbox about the small toys and they gave me a $15 credit to use in their shop. I was able to purchase another Bene Bone for my dogs (they love theirs from a previous box).

Head on over to my Pet Subscription Box list to check out what else is out there for large dogs and what coupon codes I can offer my readers to get you started with a new subscription. If you have a small or medium dog who’s docile, this would be a great box.

More about Barkbox$19/month for annual subscription; $21/month for 6 month subscription; $24/month for 3 month subscription; $29/month for monthly subscription.
